Akira Ransomware Intensifies Attacks in Finland, Targeting Companies
The Finnish National Cybersecurity Center (NCSC-FI) has issued a warning about heightened Akira ransomware activity in December, particularly targeting companies within the country. The agency revealed that six out of seven reported cases of ransomware incidents last month were attributed to the Akira threat actor. Akira's modus operandi involves not only encrypting data but also wiping backups, significantly increasing the impact of the attacks. By eliminating the option of data restoration without paying the ransom, the threat actor intensifies the pressure on victims. The NCSC-FI urges increased vigilance and cybersecurity measures to mitigate the risks associated with Akira ransomware.
