Call for Election Delay Gains Traction: Another Resolution Submitted in Senate
In a developing scenario, a third resolution urging the postponement of the general elections scheduled for February 8 has been submitted to the Senate Secretariat on Sunday. The resolution cites harsh weather conditions and security apprehensions as primary reasons for advocating a deferment of the polls. Independent Senator Hilal-ur-Rehman, representing erstwhile FATA, put forth this latest resolution, merely two days after a similar resolution was presented in the upper house of parliament. Senator Rehman emphasized the potential challenges posed by extreme cold weather and snowfall, expressing concerns about citizens facing difficulties in casting their ballots, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Additionally, he underscored the numerous obstacles faced by candidates during election campaigns, further advocating for a delay in the electoral process.
