ECP Disqualifies PTI Senator Murad Saeed After Conviction in May 9 Case
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has disqualified Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Murad Saeed following his conviction in a case linked to the May 9, 2023, violent protests.
According to an official notification issued on Thursday, Saeed was sentenced to 10 years in prison by an anti-terrorism court in Rawalpindi. The conviction led to his disqualification under Article 63(1)(h) of the Constitution.
As a result of the ruling, the Senate’s general seat from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been declared vacant.
