Pakistan Summons Norwegian Ambassador Over Attendance at Islamabad Court Hearing
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) summoned the Norwegian ambassador on Thursday after he attended a court hearing in Islamabad, an act officials described as interference in Pakistan’s internal matters.
Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said that the Additional Foreign Secretary for Europe called in the ambassador to convey Pakistan’s concerns. The diplomat’s presence at the judicial proceeding was termed “a violation of diplomatic protocol and relevant international law.”
Andrabi added that the ambassador was reminded of the diplomatic norms outlined in the Vienna Convention and urged to refrain from actions that could be interpreted as involvement in the country’s domestic affairs.
