Pakistan Supports South Africa's Application Against Israel at ICJ for Genocide Violations
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan announced its support for South Africa's application filed at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) concerning Israel's violations of its obligations under the 1951 Genocide Convention in relation to the Palestinian people in Gaza. Pakistan considers this legal action timely and a crucial step towards holding Israel accountable for documented atrocities against the Palestinian people since October 7, 2023. Expressing shared concerns outlined in South Africa's application, Pakistan deems Israel's ongoing military aggression and actions against the Palestinian people as war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocidal acts. Pakistan reiterated its call for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, an end to Israel's continuous violence, the lifting of inhumane sieges, and the prompt delivery of humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people. Firmly advocating for a just solution to the Palestinian question, Pakistan maintains that the creation of an independent, viable, sovereign, and contiguous Palestinian State along the pre-June 1967 borders, with Al-Quds-Al-Sharif as its capital, is the only equitable resolution.
