Trump Threatens New Tariffs on Canada Over Palestine Support
U.S. President Donald Trump has escalated trade tensions with Canada, just one day before the August 1 deadline to finalize a new tariff deal. Trump stated that reaching an agreement would be "very hard" following Canada’s public endorsement of Palestinian statehood.
If no deal is reached by the deadline, the U.S. plans to impose a 35% tariff on all Canadian imports not covered by the existing U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). The move signals growing political and economic friction between the two allies.
