U.S. Nuclear-Capable Bombers Fly Over Sea of Japan After China–Russia Drills
The United States flew nuclear-capable bombers over the Sea of Japan on Wednesday in joint drills with Japanese fighter jets, Reuters reported, citing Tokyo’s confirmation. The show of force came in response to recent Chinese and Russian military exercises near Japan and South Korea, key U.S. allies in the region.
Japan’s defence ministry said in a statement on Thursday that both nations “reaffirmed their strong resolve to prevent any unilateral attempt to alter the status quo by force,” adding that the exercise demonstrated the operational readiness of Japan’s Self-Defense Forces and U.S. military units.
