جمعرات کے روز اسرائیلی فوج کی جانب سے رفح شہر میں پیش قدمی کے بعد لاکھوں فلسطینیوں نے پناہ کی تلاش میں نقل مکانی کی، جو اب تک کی سب سے بڑی جبری ہجرتوں میں سے ایک قرار دی جا رہی ہے۔
اس کارروائی سے ایک دن قبل اسرائیل نے غزہ کے گنجان آباد جنوبی علاقے میں ایک نئی "سیکیورٹی زون" قائم کرنے کے ارادے کا اعلان کیا تھا۔ رفح، جو اب تک جنگ سے بچ کر آنے والے افراد کے لیے آخری پناہ گاہ تھی، اب خود بھی شدید عسکری کارروائی کی زد میں ہے۔
