Bilawal Warns of Withholding Budget Vote If PSDP Excludes Marginalized Areas
Addressing a rally in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari urged the federal government to prioritize underdeveloped regions in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP). He warned that without consultation, his party would not support the budget.
Bilawal paid tribute to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, stating that after five decades of struggle, justice was served through a presidential reference filed by President Asif Zardari. He condemned terrorism, vowing to stand with the Prime Minister against extremist threats that harm civilians. He stressed the need for national unity against terrorism, describing it as a war against Pakistan.
He asserted that Prisoner No. 804 (an indirect reference to Imran Khan) has the right to do politics but must also speak against terrorism. Reaffirming his commitment to federation, Bilawal highlighted PPP’s role in restoring Bhutto’s constitution through the 18th Amendment and securing provincial rights.
Bilawal emphasized the need to protect the Indus River, sharing that he had raised the water issue globally as Foreign Minister. He accused India of water theft and called for continued international pressure.
He stressed that true judicial reforms must ensure equal representation and that the current political trajectory is harmful. Lastly, he warned anti-state forces, political or non-political, that PPP will block any attempt to destabilize Pakistan, reaffirming the party’s motto: “Pakistan Khappay.”
