Pakistan Cricket Board Expands Women's Cricket Horizon with 11 New Domestic Contracts
In a bid to foster emerging talent in women's cricket, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has granted domestic contracts to 11 additional women cricketers, pushing the total number of domestic contracted players to 80. Among the recent inductees, one hails from the emerging women’s category, while the other ten have been recognized for their standout performances in the Women U19 T20 Tournament held in Muridke in September. Expressing delight, Mr. Zaka Ashraf, Chairman PCB Management Committee, praised the young players, emphasizing the board's commitment to nurturing the growth of women's cricket in Pakistan. Head of Women’s Cricket, Tania Mallick, echoed this sentiment, stating that these contracts mark the beginning of a new era in women’s cricket, with a focus on the upcoming U19 World Cup. The 11 players awarded domestic contracts from November 2023 to June 2024 are: Aqsa Yousaf (Multan), Areesha Ansari (Okara), Humaira Ghulam Hussain (Quetta), Kainat Eiman (Karachi), Memoona Khalid (Lahore), Mubeen Ahmed (Rawalpindi), Muqadas Bukhari (Multan), Muskan Abid (Lahore), Saba Sher (Lahore), Samiya Afsar (Lahore), and Shameer Rajput (Multan).
