Toronto Claims Title as North America's Most Congested City in TomTom's Annual Traffic Index
In TomTom's latest annual traffic index, Toronto has emerged as the most congested city in North America, surpassing both New York and Mexico City. Globally, Toronto ranks third on the list, following London and Dublin. The data reveals that Toronto commuters spend an average of 29 minutes on a 10-kilometre journey, marking an increase of 50 seconds from the previous year. The city's congestion level places it just slightly ahead of Dublin, where the commute for a similar distance takes 29 minutes and 30 seconds. London, identified as the world's most congested city in the index, tops the global list with a 37-minute, 20-second average for a 10-kilometre trip. The findings underscore the challenges faced by Toronto residents in dealing with increasing traffic, highlighting the need for strategic urban planning and transportation solutions to alleviate congestion and enhance the efficiency of daily commutes.
